Guatemala, May 24, 2024. At a press conference, the Nutrition Strengthening Program was launched through Funsek, with financing from Banco Industrial's Bi Foundation, which will benefit 100 families.

In Guatemala, one out of every two children suffers from chronic malnutrition, the highest figure in Latin America (Unicef, 2023), which becomes a constraint that affects the quality of life of Guatemalan children in the present and the future.

Specifically in Totonicapan, 598 cases of malnutrition in children under five years of age were registered between January and September 2023, according to the Food and Nutritional Insecurity Information, Monitoring and Alert System (Siinsan).

Since 2020, Funsek has been working with the community through consultations, dialogues and a diagnosis to create an action plan to design a program that would improve the quality of life of the families.

In 2021 Banco Industrial supported this task with nutritional supplementation days and a community garden that included planting vegetables and chicken coops.

By 2024 Fundación Bi will finance the strengthening of Organic Family Gardens, contemplating a work that promotes the social fabric, rescues generational knowledge of cultivation and soil regeneration. In addition, laying hens and bee hives will be included in a sustainable effort.

Together we work for the development of the communities!
