Root Connection: a program that strengthens the countryside and those who make it grow
Guatemala, February 11, 2026.
Based on the conviction that Guatemala's development is also built in communities, Fundación Bi promotes initiatives that strengthen them through innovation, support, and solutions designed for their reality.
Within this framework, 100 producers from Alta Verapaz, from the second cohort of the Conexión Raiz program, participated in the graduation ceremony after completing the first year of a training process focused on regenerative agriculture.
A program with a long-term vision
Conexión Raíz is an initiative that seeks to transform agriculture through a comprehensive and sustainable approach. The program is developed by Fundación Bi in partnership with Sarape Social, and is implemented in coordination with local governments, community organizations, and regional leaders.
Its main objective is to strengthen the technical, financial, and organizational capacities of small producers, promoting production models that care for the land, improve family incomes, and generate real opportunities in the territory.
Training that translates into opportunities
During the first year of the program, participants received practical training in regenerative agriculture applied to coffee cultivation. These practices are aimed at improving soil health and strengthening long-term productivity.
In addition, Conexión Raíz promotes staggered harvests throughout the year. This reduces dependence on a single crop and provides greater economic stability for rural families.
"Investing in the countryside is investing in Guatemala's future. Programs such as Conexión Raíz reflect our commitment to entrepreneurship and financial education as pillars for the country's sustainable development," said María José Paiz, General Manager of Fundación Bi.
A model that goes beyond training
The innovation of Conexión Raíz lies in the fact that it is not limited to technical training. The program connects knowledge with market opportunities, encourages partnerships between producers, and promotes the transformation of crops to generate added value from the territory.
"When local knowledge, ongoing training, and a focus on potential markets are combined, real opportunities are created that transform the lives of producers," said Milagros Polanco, General Manager for Central America and the Caribbean at Sarape.
Four pillars that support the program
Conexión Raíz is structured around four fundamental pillars:
- Inclusion and financial education
- Productive transformation with a focus on markets
- Associativity and social cohesion
- Innovation and strategic thinking
A firm step toward the future of agriculture
The graduation of this second cohort represents a key step forward in consolidating a model that puts people, land, and the future at the center of rural development. Conexión Raíz is a long-term commitment to closing social, productive, and economic gaps, strengthening national agriculture, and promoting adaptation to climate change.
