Guatemala, May 17, 2024. Following up on the inter-institutional initiative launched in February of this year: "HogaRES united for resilient and healthy homes," Banco Industrial, through Fundación Bi and with the support of the Municipality of Quetzaltenango, began the construction of 250 concrete floors in the homes of vulnerable families in that department.

According to data from the National Population and Housing Census (2018), 26.5% of housing in Guatemala faces a qualitative deficit, affecting more than four million people.

Dirt floors are directly related to a higher incidence of parasites, bacteria, gastrointestinal and respiratory diseases, feeding the vicious circle of malnutrition and vulnerability in the communities.

The first community in Quetzaltengo to benefit is Llanos del Pinal, where 25 concrete floors are being built; later work will be done in the Llanos de la Cruz community and in 21 other communities in the region.

Leading these actions is how Bi Foundation fulfills its purpose of creating a prosperous and sustainable region, providing dignified, resilient and healthy homes.

Volunteering Bi

In an act of conscience and to support the most vulnerable communities, Banco Industrial employees join these actions that seek to solve problems through volunteering, working for the benefit of families with the construction of these concrete floors.

Let's give to the development of communities!
